Dio Chrysostom (c. 40–after 110 AD) was a Greek orator, philosopher, and writer associated with the Second Sophistic. His speeches range from civic and imperial criticism to ethical reflection, often using vivid anecdotes and literary imitation to address the relation between power, virtue, and public speech. Jerome preserves a readable corpus of Orationes.
