Cornelius Nepos (c. 100–after 27 BC) was a Roman biographer who wrote during the final decades of the Republic. His surviving Lives compare Greek and Roman commanders and statesmen through concise narratives that emphasize character, conduct, and public reputation. Jerome preserves a sizeable active corpus, including the Lives of Atticus and Hannibal.
